George Catuogno and Catuogno Property Collective operate in full compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act of 1968 and all applicable New Jersey state laws. We do not discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of real property on the basis of any protected class.
Federal Protected Classes
Under the Federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. § 3604), it is illegal to discriminate in housing based on:
- Race
- Color
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation, as clarified by HUD guidance)
- Familial status (families with children under age 18, pregnant persons, persons in the process of securing legal custody)
- Disability (physical or mental)
New Jersey Protected Classes
New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq.) extends protections beyond federal law. In New Jersey, it is also illegal to discriminate in housing based on:
- Ancestry
- Marital status
- Affectional or sexual orientation
- Gender identity or expression
- Source of lawful income (including Section 8 vouchers)
- Liability for military service
- Nationality
- Age (for protected classes)
These protections apply to the sale, rental, lease, and financing of all residential real property in New Jersey.
Our Obligations
As a licensed New Jersey REALTOR® and member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR Member ID #609055295), George Catuogno is bound by the NAR Code of Ethics, which includes Article 10:
"REALTORS® shall not deny equal professional services to any person for reasons of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. REALTORS® shall not be parties to any plan or agreement to discriminate against a person or persons on the basis of these characteristics."
We are also affiliated with Natale Real Estate Inc., which maintains its own fair housing policies in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local law.
Prohibited Practices
Catuogno Property Collective strictly prohibits and will not engage in:
- Steering — directing clients toward or away from neighborhoods based on protected characteristics
- Blockbusting — inducing sales by suggesting demographic change in a neighborhood
- Redlining — refusing services based on the racial composition of a neighborhood
- Discriminatory advertising — any marketing that expresses a preference for or against a protected class
- Any misrepresentation of property availability based on a buyer's or renter's protected characteristics
